Etsy Goodness

Some More Etsy Goodness

By now you all know I'm a cupcake queen! I love anything CUPCAKE!!! So of course, when I came across the cupcake necklace, I wanted it! The only problem... I dont wear jewelery. But hubby fixed that problem for me. After more than 9 years of sharing one vehicle we bought a second! I immediately knew where I could hang this adorable little gem, from my rear view mirror!!! Ok, so there was a little whining and complaining from hubby, who didnt want to drive my car with a cupcake hanging from the mirror. Well too bad, baby! I spent the last 5 years driving a truck and carting around your army gear, I think you can deal with a little cupcake!

The cupcake is a lamp work bead, made of glass and completely handmade. Natasha of http://www.natashapuffer.etsy.com/ is a sweetheart. She sent me a message as soon as she sent it out and was super quick with getting it to me. I highly recommend her!

It speaks the truth! Now, this shirt isnt mine yet, but I'm thinking about it.

Ready for another Etsy Shopping Spree?

My etsy shopping addiction continues!
Shhhhh, dont tell (ok you can tell) but this is my favorite kind of shirt I've got for Delilah. This is the second one, we have one in pink too (of course!) If you want to score yours, visit Whitney (who is super sweet) at www.ajoyfulvision.etsy.com On a side note, the sewer in me wants to take out the yellow ruffle on this skirt and add my own ruffle!

I would have had pictures of this adorable dress sooner, but the first time I put her in it, the little bugger pooped on it before I could get pictures!!! But she liked it really! And luckily I was able to get it out. I love the little ruffle on this dress and how cute is the apple print? She makes the bows to match the dresses, and they come along with the purchase!

I'm starting to have a thing for bloomers! Some of you may know, Daddy is a drill sergeant, so I HAD to get these little ruffle bloomers. www.kuttinup.etsy.com was very friendly and fast making these for us. She was so helpful in aiding me in picking out a size that would fit her for more than a month. I cant wait to come back for more.

I think she likes it!

I'll take one of EVERYTHING from www.sweetplume.etsy.com I absolutely looooooove this dress! Quality cuteness, be sure to check her out. You'll be in awe!

Till next time...

Sewing, a new hobby!

After buying so many pillowcase dresses, I decided it was time to put my sewing machine to use. Keep in mind, the only thing I had ever sewed were blankets! So I searched etsy looking for a good pillowcase pattern, some fabric and a quick trip to Wally World to pick up some tread. Several phone calls to my grandmother (for the mean of sewing terminology) and a few hours later I had a dress! Not too bad for my first attempt!

So by this time I've been adding lots of fabrics to my favorites on etsy. I decided to change up the dress patterns just a little and add the zebra stripe print rather than the polka dot for the tie. Love how it came out!

Now this is my favorite dress pattern thus far. It took me ALL DAY to complete. I ended up having to take out lots of seams, but it was my own fault for not understanding what the pattern was asking. I think the sizing is off on this pattern as this is the 6-9 mo size on my 4mo daughter. She normally wears a 6mo size.

A second attempt at the double layer dress. (My favorite) And it went much quicker this time. Only had to take out one seam, and again my fault for not reading the directions more carefully. This time I made the dress in 1T-2T size. Much better fit for her!

Another double layered dress. I tried to do something a little softer and more vintagish. The blue bottom layer was supposed to be a black polka dot, but it showed through the top layer. So I had to improvise! I was almost able to make this dress without looking at the instructions!

So after wearing out my first two patterns I decided it was time to buy another. Here is a halter top dress. This patter is by far my most versatile! I got it from http://www.whimsycouture.etsy.com/ There are sooooo many options. The straps can be made as shown, or I can use knot straps, buttons etc! The ruffle can be a band (like in the pillowcase dress) and the ruffle or band can be done in any lenght! AWESOME! I'm out of 3/4" elastic and so is Wally World, or esle I'd have made more of this style!

On a side note, this was my first try at a ruffle, and I love it! I'm already thinking of adding ruffles to some of my other dresses!

Finally, this is my most recent dress pattern purchase. Another halter top dress. Well, it's supposed to be a dress, but it came out more like a top on her. I need to take into consideration that she is a lot taller than your average 6 mo old (at 4 months even!) Next time I'll lenghten the body of the dress and I'm thinking of adding one of those adorable ruffles to the bottom!
I'm LOVING sewing, and considering adding some of these dresses to my scrapbooking shop. If you are interested in one, let me know. I'd be happy to make one for you!!! Any excuse to sew!!!

Etsy Wardrobe - More from Delilah's Closet

My new favorite thing to shop for on etsy, DRESSES!!!! There are so many styles and options offered from many talented sellers on etsy. I found www.creativebee706.etsy.com a month or so ago while pouncing (big shock, I know!) I ordered this super sweet cupcake pillowcase dress, and I've been hooked ever since. Her dresses are just adorable, well made and shipped very quickly.

I look forward to picking out dresses, and I find myself checking out her shop a few times a week for new styles. Right now she is running a special. A selection of dresses for just 10 dollars!!!

To date, Miss Delilah has 3 of her dresses. Being as roomy as they are I know they will fit her for many months to come, which is a huge advantage when it comes to baby clothes. Once she's out grown it as a dress, she'll be able to continue to wear it as a top.
The above dress is our most recent purchase (my son helped pick it out) and should be here any day now!

Etsy Shopping Spree

If you follow me on Facebook, then you know I love to shop on Etsy! And if you dont, well then you should! www.facebook.com/myotherprincess One of my very dear Etsy friends makes these adorable beanies, as featured on my little doll! She was sweet enough to send one as a gift for Delilah.
Besides beanies, 2kute makes crochet hats, soap savers, mary janes, wash cloths, scrubbies and appliques. Be sure to check her out. www.2kute.etsy.com
And as a special offer, when you purchase and item from 2kute from 2/14 to 2/21 you'll receive a 10% discount on your next purchase in my bath and body shop! Just post the transaction ID in the notes to seller and I'll refund your 10%. Excludes shipping charges and can not be combined with any other offer.

So as I mentioned, if you follow me on facebook, I do a lot of Etsy shopping. One of my favorite features on etsy is Pounce. Pounce is a great way to discover shops who have yet to have a sale, as well as shops who have just sold something. I'm one who likes to browse the just sold items.
I'm known to pounce several times a day! One of my recent finds was from www.wiggletiggy.etsy.com. I've been looking for a case for my camera for some time now, and this monster digital camera case was just too hard to pass up!
You'll also find cases for all kinds of gadgets, like cell phones, PSP, iPods, and DS just to name a few! There is also adorable pencil cases that any child would be proud to show off at school!

My final Etsy pounce find for today is this feather pen. My house is constantly eating my pens! I can never find one when I need one. You can bet this one from www.rubydollcreations.etsy.com is never too hard to find. This feather is super soft and makes this pen hard to misplace. You might have even spotted this as a photo prop in my shop! So get your shop on and start pouncing, but be careful. It can get costly and addictive!

It's True, I'm Candle Crazed

My favorite candles EVER!!!

I've tried them all, from Yankee, to cheapie Wally World and everything in between, and Auntie Di's has the best! The scent throw is amazing. I'll be burning the candle in the kitchen and I can smell it through out the house. Yankee cant do that. They burn clean and evenly. No wasted wax here.

I truly have an addiction! I'm constantly burning my candles so I can hurry up and buy more. She offers many scents, including my favorites, Banana Nut Bread, Pumpkin Souffle, and Apple Pie.

Not seeing what you want? Just ask her. She's super awesome with stuff like that!

So not a big candle fan? Not to worry. She also has a tart shop which I am equally addicted to! As her name claims, she'll definitely be "tempting" you. Her scents are true to life. After smelling the Banana Nut Bread, my brother asked if there was real banana bread in it! Yah, it's that good.

So head on over, tell her I sent you and pick up some goodies!

Hair Bow Diva

Well it's been a while since I was able to post last. Having a new baby is keeping my hands full! Miss Delilah is approaching 3 months now! Seems hard to believe and time sure does fly.

Back in my scrapbooking days, I used to do a lot of work for one very special lady, Melissa and her sweet daughter Tori. She always had the most amazing and darling hair bows on her baby. So I vowed that if I ever had a little girl, I was gonna dress her the same way. Now back then I never thought I'd have another child, so what a surprise to have Delilah come along!

Since then, the sales from my soap shop http://www.myotherprincess.etsy.com/ have gone to fund my hair bow obsession.

If you've ever done a search on Etsy for hair bows, you know there are tons of choices. One shop that has really caught my eye is http://www.amberkhokhar83.etsy.com/ If you have a little girl, you need one of these bows!

Suprise Baby Shower!!!

I was starting to think I probably wasnt going to have a baby shower for Delilah since all of my family and most of my friends live in Maine. I had been talking to a couple people, online friends, and they suggested I have a long distance baby shower, where everyone mailed me their gifts. So I relayed the idea to my mom (who, unknown to me, had already come up with this idea). So she played along with it and said she'd see what she could do. A week or so ago my grandmother told me that they hadnt had any luck with the baby shower and that everyone wanted to wait till I had the baby, or they wanted to wait till we came to Maine again... So to mean, that meant no one wanted to send anything and I was really disappointed.

Thursday a HUGE box had shown up at my house. I knew my mom and grandmother were sending me some things, so I thought that is what the box was. I opened the box to realize it was my BABY SHOWER!!! It brought happy tears to my eyes, and then I started feeling bad, that I had felt bad about my family not wanting to send anything. Lol, but that was soon forgotten as soon as I started opening the packages!

I'm sharing pictures of some of my favorites. Now everything was amazing and I LOOOOOVE everything that I received, but I just had to share a few of them. Above is the quilt my brother's Fiance, Hannah, made for Delilah. There is a little handmade tag on the baby of it that reads, For Delilah From Aunt Hannah 2009, all hand stitched.

These items above are all from my sister Renee. I think she went a little overboard!!! But I love it all, including the purple corduroy dress. It's my favorite outfit! She also sent a pack of onesies, a hooded towel, wash cloths and a pack of receiving blankets.

This little outfit was sent by my Aunt Gloria. I love that she embroidered Delilah's name on the sweater. This outfit is sooooo soft and cuddly, the baby is going to love being wrapped up in it!

And finally this picture is a group shot of everything. In the end, Delilah ended up with 6 outfits, 5 sleeper/jammies 2 of them bag type, 6 receiving blankets, 3 regular blankets, a pack of diapers, hygiene tool, 4 hair bows, 13 onesies (because you can never have enough), 2 hooded towels, a picture pillow (which is hanging on the door to her room), a sound and light machine, diaper bag, socks and wash cloths!
Thank you to everyone who sent things for the baby!

Delilah Update

Delilah at 26 weeks

You can make out her sweet little face now. She's got to be really crowded in there. She was folded in half with both her hands and feet in front of her face... Hard to believe that in less than 3 months she'll be here! The pregnancy seems to be going much quicker this time around, and I'm enjoying it a lot more. I think it's because I'm older and I can appreciate it more.

We finally got on the ball and went shopping for her. I most likely wont have a baby shower since all of my family and most of my friends live in Maine. Though I'm sure I will be receiving some things from them in the mail. We used the Dr. Spock book and went through it for all of the clothing things it recommended. Onsies, play clothes, sleep clothes, blankets, towels, wash clothes etc. I wanted to get a good deal of it myself, but I always wanted to leave the option open for family who planned on sending things. Not pictured are the pack and play (all in one bassinet, changing table and playpen) and the matching swing. They are set up in her room right now, but both will be moved out once she's here.

I'm still hunting around ETSY for cute finds for her. I fell in love with this little dress the moment I saw it. I'll definitely be back for more of them. Be sure to check out her shop for the most adorable dresses and hair bows. http://www.tosweetpeafromme.etsy.com/ The bibs are Velcro and lined with chenille to be soft against her neck and skin. This etsy seller offers lots of kid and adult friendly items in the most popular fabrics http://www.mushybug.etsy.com/

Better Bows

I'm finally getting it I think...
The above bow was my 4th attempt. Thinking the wider ribbon is the "secret". My smaller ribbons were making bows that were too long and thin. I'm thinking if I decreased the length of the ribbon I could make it work though, just producing a smaller bow.

Here is my 3rd attempt. I was so happy with it when I was finished. Both bows are just being held together by the tie in the middle as I have yet to glue them or attach them to headbands. Over all I'm happy with them.

Delilah's Goodies

More department store finds for Delilah. The 3 top items (hat and onesies) we cute discount items at Walmart. Couldnt pass them up. Hope no one notices she's wearing beachy clothes during the winter. The purple outfit is from Sears and I love it. I tried to make matching bows for it, you can see those in the bottom picture. Finally the group of onesies are a garden set we also found on sale at Sears.

A couple more bows I found on etsy that I love! I'd buy one of each of her bows if I were rich! Check her out. www.amberkhokhar3.etsy.com and her new shop www.TakeABowBowtique.etsy.com

Finally, not nearly as cute as the bows I've been buying, but here is my second attempt at a bow to match the purple outfit above. I gotta saw, bow makers are very creative and very good at what they do.

My Beloved Uncle Johnny 1961-2009

1961 -2009
Last week was a very sad week for our family, and the friends of my Uncle Johnny. After a short battle with cancer (37 days), my uncle passed Wednesday morning. However sad and heartbroken we may feel, we know he is in a better place. We are relieved that he is at peace and in the arms of God now.

As I remember him...

A great man with a kind and giving heart. Laughter came easily when he was around. Just a mention of Uncle Johnny and a smile would grace my face. He brought happiness to everyone who knew him.

My favorite memory is of him and my dad singing "We're not gonna take it" in the car. I was young, 4 or 5 maybe... Smiling now as I think about it. As a child he and my mom would take us on mini vacations to FunTown. We had some fun times there. I remember him being so proud of his "turbo" car. We (us kids) would always ask him to downshift it... and of course we didnt know what that was, but it was cool to a child.

We have endless Christmas memories... Us "kids" had made a tradition in these past few years, to buy him a case of his favorite energy drink and gather at someones' house for a big family feast.

And in recent years, I had grown up conversations about life and some of the issues he was going through (maybe even girl problems ;) ) via email (since I no longer live near my family).

He left us with several memories and moments to cherish. I no longer want to be sadden when I think of him and our loss. I know he is where he wanted to be, with God. So I'm going to be happy for, YOU, Uncle Johnny. You're in Heaven now looking down on us. I cant be sad for that. Someday we'll all be together again, until then...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a wonderful poem that my Nana found and gave to my Mom to be read at the funeral.

DON'T GRIEVE FOR ME, FOR NOW I'M FREE

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call;
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way;
I found that place at the close of day.

If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared a laugh, a kiss;
Ah yes, these things, I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much;
Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.

Perhaps my time seems all too brief;
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up you heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.

Thanks for reading. I want the world to know him. A wonderful man with a great heart.

For Delilah from Etsy

Here are a few of mine finds on ETSY for baby Delilah. I've been searching all over, every free minute I have. So far I love what I've discovered.

1. a DOUBLE MINKY BABY BLANKET I found on sale at www.SugarPlumkin.etsy.com
2. MEDIUM PINK BABY HEAD BAND BOW and she was sweet enough to send me the white princess bow as well. Found them at www.LollyBopBaby.etsy.com
3. a BUNDLE OF BURP CLOTHS from www.DiaperCakeDivas.etsy.com could these be any more cute? Almost too nice to use, but I think I'll manage. These arent little light weigh cloths either. Thick and durable, they'll be able to clean up any mess Delilah throws at them.

I think next on my to-buy list will be a dress or some type of clothing and I'm pretty sure it's gonna come from here www.illiakids.etsy.com I cant wait!

She's a GIRL!!!!

We found out Thursday afternoon! I've gone a little overboard on little girl items, but let's face it... I need everything for this one. I've held off buying anything till this point because I wanted to know what the baby was first. And YAY!!! It's a GIRL!!! The above items are all store bought but I've been searching ETSY nearly non stop in the pursuit of the cutest and frilliest baby girl items. I'll share a grouping of the etsy items at a later time.

So there you have it! It's a girl. On a small side note, today is the last day of my baby celebration sale. Anything you want in my shop, all at 25% off.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to my etsy baby shopping spree!
