Suprise Baby Shower!!!

I was starting to think I probably wasnt going to have a baby shower for Delilah since all of my family and most of my friends live in Maine. I had been talking to a couple people, online friends, and they suggested I have a long distance baby shower, where everyone mailed me their gifts. So I relayed the idea to my mom (who, unknown to me, had already come up with this idea). So she played along with it and said she'd see what she could do. A week or so ago my grandmother told me that they hadnt had any luck with the baby shower and that everyone wanted to wait till I had the baby, or they wanted to wait till we came to Maine again... So to mean, that meant no one wanted to send anything and I was really disappointed.

Thursday a HUGE box had shown up at my house. I knew my mom and grandmother were sending me some things, so I thought that is what the box was. I opened the box to realize it was my BABY SHOWER!!! It brought happy tears to my eyes, and then I started feeling bad, that I had felt bad about my family not wanting to send anything. Lol, but that was soon forgotten as soon as I started opening the packages!

I'm sharing pictures of some of my favorites. Now everything was amazing and I LOOOOOVE everything that I received, but I just had to share a few of them. Above is the quilt my brother's Fiance, Hannah, made for Delilah. There is a little handmade tag on the baby of it that reads, For Delilah From Aunt Hannah 2009, all hand stitched.

These items above are all from my sister Renee. I think she went a little overboard!!! But I love it all, including the purple corduroy dress. It's my favorite outfit! She also sent a pack of onesies, a hooded towel, wash cloths and a pack of receiving blankets.

This little outfit was sent by my Aunt Gloria. I love that she embroidered Delilah's name on the sweater. This outfit is sooooo soft and cuddly, the baby is going to love being wrapped up in it!

And finally this picture is a group shot of everything. In the end, Delilah ended up with 6 outfits, 5 sleeper/jammies 2 of them bag type, 6 receiving blankets, 3 regular blankets, a pack of diapers, hygiene tool, 4 hair bows, 13 onesies (because you can never have enough), 2 hooded towels, a picture pillow (which is hanging on the door to her room), a sound and light machine, diaper bag, socks and wash cloths!
Thank you to everyone who sent things for the baby!

Delilah Update

Delilah at 26 weeks

You can make out her sweet little face now. She's got to be really crowded in there. She was folded in half with both her hands and feet in front of her face... Hard to believe that in less than 3 months she'll be here! The pregnancy seems to be going much quicker this time around, and I'm enjoying it a lot more. I think it's because I'm older and I can appreciate it more.

We finally got on the ball and went shopping for her. I most likely wont have a baby shower since all of my family and most of my friends live in Maine. Though I'm sure I will be receiving some things from them in the mail. We used the Dr. Spock book and went through it for all of the clothing things it recommended. Onsies, play clothes, sleep clothes, blankets, towels, wash clothes etc. I wanted to get a good deal of it myself, but I always wanted to leave the option open for family who planned on sending things. Not pictured are the pack and play (all in one bassinet, changing table and playpen) and the matching swing. They are set up in her room right now, but both will be moved out once she's here.

I'm still hunting around ETSY for cute finds for her. I fell in love with this little dress the moment I saw it. I'll definitely be back for more of them. Be sure to check out her shop for the most adorable dresses and hair bows. http://www.tosweetpeafromme.etsy.com/ The bibs are Velcro and lined with chenille to be soft against her neck and skin. This etsy seller offers lots of kid and adult friendly items in the most popular fabrics http://www.mushybug.etsy.com/

Better Bows

I'm finally getting it I think...
The above bow was my 4th attempt. Thinking the wider ribbon is the "secret". My smaller ribbons were making bows that were too long and thin. I'm thinking if I decreased the length of the ribbon I could make it work though, just producing a smaller bow.

Here is my 3rd attempt. I was so happy with it when I was finished. Both bows are just being held together by the tie in the middle as I have yet to glue them or attach them to headbands. Over all I'm happy with them.

Delilah's Goodies

More department store finds for Delilah. The 3 top items (hat and onesies) we cute discount items at Walmart. Couldnt pass them up. Hope no one notices she's wearing beachy clothes during the winter. The purple outfit is from Sears and I love it. I tried to make matching bows for it, you can see those in the bottom picture. Finally the group of onesies are a garden set we also found on sale at Sears.

A couple more bows I found on etsy that I love! I'd buy one of each of her bows if I were rich! Check her out. www.amberkhokhar3.etsy.com and her new shop www.TakeABowBowtique.etsy.com

Finally, not nearly as cute as the bows I've been buying, but here is my second attempt at a bow to match the purple outfit above. I gotta saw, bow makers are very creative and very good at what they do.

My Beloved Uncle Johnny 1961-2009

1961 -2009
Last week was a very sad week for our family, and the friends of my Uncle Johnny. After a short battle with cancer (37 days), my uncle passed Wednesday morning. However sad and heartbroken we may feel, we know he is in a better place. We are relieved that he is at peace and in the arms of God now.

As I remember him...

A great man with a kind and giving heart. Laughter came easily when he was around. Just a mention of Uncle Johnny and a smile would grace my face. He brought happiness to everyone who knew him.

My favorite memory is of him and my dad singing "We're not gonna take it" in the car. I was young, 4 or 5 maybe... Smiling now as I think about it. As a child he and my mom would take us on mini vacations to FunTown. We had some fun times there. I remember him being so proud of his "turbo" car. We (us kids) would always ask him to downshift it... and of course we didnt know what that was, but it was cool to a child.

We have endless Christmas memories... Us "kids" had made a tradition in these past few years, to buy him a case of his favorite energy drink and gather at someones' house for a big family feast.

And in recent years, I had grown up conversations about life and some of the issues he was going through (maybe even girl problems ;) ) via email (since I no longer live near my family).

He left us with several memories and moments to cherish. I no longer want to be sadden when I think of him and our loss. I know he is where he wanted to be, with God. So I'm going to be happy for, YOU, Uncle Johnny. You're in Heaven now looking down on us. I cant be sad for that. Someday we'll all be together again, until then...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a wonderful poem that my Nana found and gave to my Mom to be read at the funeral.

DON'T GRIEVE FOR ME, FOR NOW I'M FREE

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call;
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way;
I found that place at the close of day.

If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared a laugh, a kiss;
Ah yes, these things, I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much;
Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.

Perhaps my time seems all too brief;
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up you heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.

Thanks for reading. I want the world to know him. A wonderful man with a great heart.

Another triple layered delight! I was thrilled when my new blue colorant arrived this week. I couldnt wait to try it out. I used it to color the bubblegum chunk layer. Below that is the yummy Pink Flamingo scent. If you've never smelled it before it's a perfect mix of citrus fruit and cherries. A great fragrance perfect for summer. The final layer is my favorite, Orange Creamsicle.

I love making and using these layered soaps. Why use just one scent when you can have more?

Currently I'm offering these layered soaps for 3.75. Stock up now while the sale is on! Buy 2 get 1 free on any in stock item in my shop. This excludes custom listings and custom orders. See my shop for details.

For Delilah from Etsy

Here are a few of mine finds on ETSY for baby Delilah. I've been searching all over, every free minute I have. So far I love what I've discovered.

1. a DOUBLE MINKY BABY BLANKET I found on sale at www.SugarPlumkin.etsy.com
2. MEDIUM PINK BABY HEAD BAND BOW and she was sweet enough to send me the white princess bow as well. Found them at www.LollyBopBaby.etsy.com
3. a BUNDLE OF BURP CLOTHS from www.DiaperCakeDivas.etsy.com could these be any more cute? Almost too nice to use, but I think I'll manage. These arent little light weigh cloths either. Thick and durable, they'll be able to clean up any mess Delilah throws at them.

I think next on my to-buy list will be a dress or some type of clothing and I'm pretty sure it's gonna come from here www.illiakids.etsy.com I cant wait!

Cupcake Toppers and Embellishments

I spent most of the day making little toppers for my cupcakes. I combined the 2 things I love, scrapbooking and bath bombs! Now all I have left to do is add the tooth picks and put them on the next batch of cupcakes. I'm planning on making these removable from the cupcakes, but first I've got to figure out a way... we'll see what I come up with.

And as always with scrapbooking I went a little overboard making waaaaaaay way too many. As I was making them I thought they would look adorable on cards or a layout. So I combined them with some other embellishments that I had previously made to create to embellishment lots. The first of which is now in my scrapbooking shop.

Just a reminder, but today is the last day for the free shipping offer in the scrapbook shop. When you spend 35 or more you'll receive free shipping on your order.

16 Rocks

Indeed it does...
Here is another of the custom orders. I created it yesterday. I love working with this die cut paper. I'm gonna have to load up on more. The paper is actually a collection called Peyton, which is the name of the girl in the layout. She wanted it to be rock n roll theme and I think I covered that here. I love the guitars. I cut them on my cricut. Sadly I bought that cartridge just for those guitars.

Contact me in my scrapbooking shop, www.paperprincess34.etsy.com for all your custom needs. Dont miss the sale. Free shipping on orders of 35 or more!

Also wanted to mention I'm on twitter now. www.twitter.com/myotherprincess

Bits of ETSY Goodness!

I found this cute little fairy a couple weeks ago while I was chatting in the Etsy Chat. I thought she'd make an excellent addition to my garden. Well so far she's made it to my baby/computer room, but eventually she'll make her way to the garden! I'm afraid she is just the first of many. You can sell all her friends here www.chelmorning.etsy.com
Here is a recent trade I made. I couldnt be happier with this one. It's a dispose a diaper bag. Something I'm sure to need once the baby arrives! You can bet I'll be coming back to www.modmomME.etsy.com for more baby treats!

From a Sketch

When I'm browsing layouts, I see them as sketches. Now a sketch is a vague outline of where your paper and embellishments go. You can be as creative with it as you want. Well this is my first layout that I have created from an actual sketch, shown below. I picked it up in the scrapbook.com gallery.

I changed it around a little bit, but mostly followed the outline, to make it work for this layout. The flourish is a one of a kind creation that I put together using prima crystals and prima felt. I just cut the felt pattern apart and pieced together a new one. Then to finish it off I added the prima crystals. I'm pretty pleased with all the detail and how it came together. I'll definitely be creating from more actual sketches in the future!

A new layout can be found in my scrapbook shop. www.paperprincess34.etsy.com along with my newest sale running through the end of the month. Purchases of 35 or more will receive free shipping. See the shop for the selection and all the details.

Yay I'm Back after the Break!

As you may have known, we found out in April we were expecting our second baby. I took a mini break from etsy doing everything but shutting my shops down, and offering only my in stock items for a couple of months. Well now the morning sickness has passed and I'm feeling my creativity coming back to life! I've craved a lot of watermelon through the first month or two and that has been my inspiration for my latest creations! These all smell good enough to eat. Pretty visually tempting too ;)

Buckets of watermelon cupcake goodness! I knew I had to save enough of this fragrance to try it out on the cupcakes. They smell perfectly juicy and sweet, just as you'd expect watermelon in the summer to taste and smell. Of course I dont recommend tasting them...

Watermelon is quickly becoming my new favorite scent. I've only had the fragrance for a week or so and already need to order more. This is definitely a scent I'm keeping around. I've used it in every type of product I make, so you have options. The shea butter soap (I have a bar in each bathroom!), the cupcakes from above, sugar scrubs and a bath salt. Head over to the shop to check them out. Get them now at a discount! 10% off your entire order when you purchase a sugar scrub or bath salt!

Sugar Scrubs & Bath Salts

One of my favorite shower necessities, sugar scrubs, and because they are my favorite, they are on sale! Also included in this sale are my bath salts. Just purchase one of these shower and/or bath temptations and you'll receive 10% off your entire order.

Sugar scrubs are great for polishing your skin while removing dead and dull skin cells, leaving your skin silky smooth. I keep a jar of this in my shower!

Or enhance your bath experience with some bath salts. I use a combination of Epsom salts and dead sea salts to get your blood circulating, and help relieve stress all while moisturizing your skin.
